Hi, welcome to & Lemons!
This recipe blog was sparked by my mom's idea to preserve and share our family's recipes with all the wonderful people who regularly join our table. This original idea grew to include not only these generational treasures, but also cooking from our feast days and culinary explorations when we travel.
I work in the publishing industry but this is my first personal publishing project that I'm sharing with whomever finds themselves here. Instead of going the traditional route of publishing a book (which was very tempting!), I have opted for the blog format as a way to force me to produce content regularly. As the saying goes, if you're going to make a commitment, tell someone! You'll be all the more motivated to meet it.
Each week I'll publish one recipe—some from our kitchen, and others gifted to us by the amazing cooks in our circle of family and friends who have inspired our cooking over the years. My hope is to build these into collections along these lines:
- Cooking with Cathie: Our family's heritage recipes passed down through generations from my mom (Cathie) and our ancestors, along with modern interpretations that keep our traditions alive and evolving.
- Feast Days: Complete menus from our gatherings with family and friends—from casual Sunday lunches to elaborate holiday celebrations at Easter and Christmas.
- Travel Series: Recipes inspired by our journeys, like the sun-soaked meals we created in Ibiza and our culinary adventures along the Canal Du Midi.
- Our Staples: The reliable, beloved dishes that appear regularly on our table and have become part of our family's DNA. You'll find these classics weaving through many of our collections.
- Recipe Remixes: Our experiments and adaptations—where traditional meets contemporary, and new favourites are born.
